Christmas Celebrations, January Fun

WOW!!! Our kids (and adult participants!) did an AMAZING job in FINDING THE CHRISTMAS STAR!!! Way to go guys!!!! What a way to kick off the Christmas season at Spring Garden!!!

Coming up this Sunday, December 9th, we are having our annual Ministry Partner's Christmas lunch at the Hall's place. Check your email for directions ~ contact Michelle if you didn't recieve them. (This event is for our all of our Ministry Partners and their families.)

On Saturday, December 15th we will be having a Kids Christmas Party from 1:00 - 3:00. We have a great afternoon planned ~ lots of fun and games! Bring your kids (ages 3+) and bring a friend! Take advantage of the time and do a little holiday shopping, or head over to the 2nd Cup @ Yonge & Spring Garden for a latte and a break!

Our Christmas Eve Family Service is on Monday, December 24th at 5:30 p.m. Join us for a lively and kid-friendly celebration of Christ's birth.

We're going to the WAVE POOL!!! We have booked our next family event at the Richmond Hill Wave Pool on Saturday, January 12th. Our swim time is from 1:30 - 2:30, and we have a party room booked for 2:45. The cost for this event is $15 per family. Please confirm your attendance with Michelle by Sunday, January 6th. Invite your friends!!!

BCOQ Jr High Retreat ~ Avalanche! We have 7 of our grade 6 kids joining the grade 7 & 8's on a retreat weekend to Muskoka Woods Sports Resort January 18th - 20th. We will join 600 other Jr.High kids from baptist churches across Ontario and Quebec for an incredible weekend of snowsports, widegames, teaching and worship. Pray for our kids (and leaders!) as we travel on snowy roads and spend a weekend at the resort.

Welcome to Spring Kids 2007-2008!

SpringKids Choir

It is no secret that we have many enthusiastic young vocalists in our group!

This Fall we hope to start a SpringKids Choir. The choir will begin with rehearsals for our Christmas pageant, but will continue throughout the year.

Unfortunately, we are yet to secure a “Choir Director” with the necessary skill set. If we are able to, practices will be held every second Thursday evening, starting September 13th.

Our kids love to sing! Let's give them the opportunity to use the gifts that God has given them. :)

Summer Summer

Why does time seem to speed up in the Summer? Our Fall curriculum was delivered this week ~ and enclosed in the box was a reality check! September will be here sooner than we think! Planning for our programs & ministries has been underway for months, but the time has come to solidify the details.
Ministry Partners play a CRITICAL role in what we do ~ if we do not have willing adults & youth committed to our ministry, our ministry can not exist. No other area is so "volunteer intensive". Do you know that we have 72 children on our "regular attendees" list? That's a lot of kids who need love, prayer, teaching and supervision every Sunday morning.
Our classes are structured as follows :
Nursery (newborn to 18 months)
Juniors (toddlers & preschoolers)
JK/SK
Grade 1
Grades 2/3
Grades 456
Each class has it's own team consisting of several teachers and assistants who rotate on a 2, 3, or 4-week basis. We also have Hall Monitors, Library Supervisors, Kids Worship Leaders, Supply Teachers, and Step-Talk Prayers.
If you have a special love for kids and a desire to be involved in their spiritual formation and growth, please contact me. I would love to get together and chat about the opportunities for you as a Spring Kids Ministry Partner.

We are coming into our last Sunday of the 2006 / 2007 school year! Summer brings a lot of change to our SpringKids schedule, but we don't slow down! In July & August our Sunday mornings will run as follows :

Nursery & Juniors ~ Business as usual.

JK - Grade 4 (in September) ~ Classroom 9 will be our home. We'll be exploring who God is through the GodRocks curriculum. It's new! It's exciting! It's made out of granite! Yay!

Grades 5 & 6 (in September) ~ You have the opportunity to join your parents in the worship service upstairs. Those who are interested in helping out with the Nursery & Juniors groups need to connect with Michelle to be scheduled in.

Be sure to pop over to Spring Kids Events to see what's going on. July 14th ~ picnic at KidsTown WaterPark, August 18th ~ "drive-in movie" at Spring Garden. Details to come!

07 / 08 Calendars

Our "Ministries & Events" calendars for 2007 ~ 2008 will be available for pick-up in the Children's Library starting this Sunday, June 17th. They are labelled with your family name. Those remaining in July will be mailed out. You will notice a lot of new events and programs, as well as dates for Kids Worship, Christmas Pageant rehearsals, Food Drives... and lots more! It's going to be an exciting year!

Kids Worship this Sunday!

We will be having our last Kids Worship (of the school year) this Sunday! Tamara Simmonds & the grade 2/3 class will be leading us. As a reminder ~ Kids Worship happens right away when we come downstairs! We'll head to our classes about 15 minutes later than usual. However, Kids Worship Sundays coincide with communion Sundays. We should have the same amount of time for class.. just bumped a little bit later!

After much work and several "starts & restarts" the Spring Kids blog is now up and running! And here is the big question.... w h y ?

We need our own space! The main website is wonderful, but I thought that it be good to have a place of our own ~ to post info about what is going on in "kidsmin" at Spring Garden. It's quick. It's easy. It's all right here. Or at least it will be soon!
